The pace of technology will get faster

And by 2025 it will be clear to everyone that the best AI models can beat many experts in intellectual tests. I myself will lose to AI in the test of economics. Not only this, but AI is now leaving experts behind even in using its expertise – like in medical diagnosis, where it is performing better than even human doctors.

The most reliable observation that every opinion writer, including me, can make is that the pace of change has accelerated. And it has really been happening for the last few years, as world conflicts, US politics, and major advancements in AI prove. I expect this to trend strongly in 2025, especially in the technology sector.

But the biggest surprise will be that all this will not be that impactful in the beginning. Our society is not organized in such a way that new intelligence can be deployed efficiently. AI will come into its own as therapists and conversation companions, where people can just talk to themselves. Otherwise, reshaping institutions to better use AI will be a long process. By the end of 2025, people will complain (wrongly) that there is no progress in making AI systems operable and effective in the real-world.

One exception I mentioned earlier could be health care. The US health-care system is often questioned as to why we spend so much money. But by 2025, people may start wondering why we are not spending more, especially when new drug discoveries are possible with AI.

Over time, the US health-care system will improve in performance compared to the rest of the world. Waiting time for health care and investment shortages in Canada and the UK may make people reconsider the benefits of single-payer systems. Overdosage deaths in the US will decrease and obesity rates will also be reduced through GLP-1 drugs. Progress will also be seen in cancer treatment.

Technology will also have an impact on finance and economic issues. The use of stable coins will increase in payments systems, in which institutions will need dollar-based transactions. The Federal Reserve will be concerned that control of the monetary system is slipping out of their hands, but Trump’s pro-crypto administration will support this innovation. The role of the US dollar as the reserve currency will become even stronger.

For labor markets, the economic situation could weaken, but the US economy will remain safe from recession with its forward momentum.

Another interesting topic which is not directly related to the economy is UAPs (unidentified aerial phenomena). Sightings of drones have increased in New Jersey and other states and this is increasing the interest of people and politicians. The new president-elect has promised transparency, but it remains to be seen whether all this will be implemented or not. He has nominated a lot of outsiders, so leaks and political freelancing could increase. This means that we will hear a lot of claims and news about UAPs, and it may be difficult to understand what the truth is.

There are also a lot of questions about geopolitical issues, such as different wars around the world, the future of China and Europe's economy, and political assassination attempts. I have a guess that there will be a lot to see in 2025!
