What are Tim Cook, Satya Nadella, and Sundar Pichai thinking for the tech industry in 2025?
Satya Nadella has been focusing a
lot on AI agents and has predicted that the notion of “business applications”
could “collapse” in the agentic AI era.
As another fork-in-the-road
approaches for artificial intelligence, tech leaders are considering their next
steps, such as user adoption, handling slowdowns in progress, and matters of
AGI.
Sundar Pichai, Google: Google CEO
Sundar Pichai recently underlined the importance of 2025 in an internal
meeting. He acknowledged that the company's size has forced it to do some
catch-up in AI, and said they need to act fast. "It's important to understand
the urgency of the moment, we need to move fast," Pichai said. The company
will rely heavily on Gemini models, and Pichai said they will still have a lot
of work to do in 2025, when the Gemini app reaches half a billion users.
"OpenAI's ChatGPT has become a name in AI, but we will prove that it's not
important to come first, it's important to make the product better,"
Pichai said.
Sam Altman, OpenAI: OpenAI CEO Sam Altman thinks there will be no hindrance to AI advancements by 2025. "AGI? Yes, I'm really excited about that," he said. AGI stands for Artificial General Intelligence, where machines start doing tasks like humans. Altman also said that economic disruption will take time to come after AGI, "There won't be much change at first, but there could be a lot of change later." Altman also hinted that "Artificial Super Intelligence" will be more significant, where machines can become superior to human intelligence.
Satya Nadella, Microsoft: Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella said in a recent podcast that competition is set to increase significantly in 2025, but the gains from AI will be diverse. "Google has the advantage in search and mobile distribution, but we're working to win back ground with CoPilot and Edge," he said. Nadella said AI agents could collapse business applications in the future, making SaaS solutions less important.
Mark Zuckerberg, Meta: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said in October that Meta AI, which is based on Llama models, will become the world's most widely used AI assistant. With 600 million monthly active users, Meta AI has been integrated into the search bar of Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp and Messenger. Zuckerberg said that Meta AI has made AI more accessible and will accelerate their core business.
Tim Cook, Apple: Apple CEO Tim Cook
said in a recent interview that Apple is prioritizing privacy while protecting
its AI capabilities. He talked about plans to innovate AI like multitouch,
which became part of the smartphone revolution. Cook also said that Apple is
using AI to analyze biometric data, such as through the Apple Watch and
AirPods.
Dario Amodei, Anthropic AI: Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, said AI agents are still in the early stage but will progress significantly by 2025. He said using AI agents for delicate tasks could still be risky. Amodei's focus in 2025 will be on biology along with AI applications, and he hopes that long-term ambitious projects will start by 2025.
All these leaders are very
optimistic about the future of AI in their companies and are planning to
reshape the industry with new AI technologies by 2025.
